Minnesota spring starts with snow and freezing temperatures and ends with warmth and full gardens of blooms. From icicles to puddles to tulips and peonies, spring offers just about everything. We asked one of our experienced couples, Sophia and Zach, about their spring wedding in Minnesota and they had great insight to share!

Q: WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT HAVING A SPRING WEDDING?

A: The weather was absolutely perfect. It was the beginning of June so it was just warming up! The flowers that we were able to get were beautiful as they were in season and it is hard to get peonies. The flowers and bushes on our venue's property were all peek bloom.

Having chosen a venue with an al fresco vibe, Sophia and Zach's guests enjoyed fresh air and sunshine throughout the day with the comfort of knowing there was a covered space if necessary.

Q: WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU DID TO PERSONALIZE YOUR WEDDING?

A: My husband and I did a lot of little details throughout the decor. We had tables go up to the buffet by answering a question about us. We made most of our decorations and personalized them the way we wanted. We also got to have our dogs be a part of our day which was very important to us!

Sophia and Zach used engagement photos for their table numbers and chose big marquee letters in their initials to frame their dance floor and light it up!

They also did private vows during their first look and a "second look" later in the night when Sophia changed into a reception wedding dress.

Q: WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU CHOSE TO DO THAT WAS PARTICULARLY BUDGET-FRIENDLY?

A: We chose a venue where we got to bring in any caterer and all alcohol which saved us thousands of dollars. A lot of venues make you choose their catering companies which gets very expensive so I would recommend looking at venues that you are able to choose any catering company.

Sophia and Zach kept appetizers simple during social hour offering a variety of pretzel flavors.

Q: IF THERE WAS ONE THING YOU COULD HAVE ADDED TO YOUR DAY, WHAT WOUDL IT BE?

A: Other than adding more time to our day because it was perfect, I wish I added more one-on-one time with my husband.

They did get a lot of quality time with loved ones!

Q: WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE FOR FUTURE COUPLES?

A: Figure out who your most important vendors are and spend your money where it counts on what is more important to you. Take photos with your photographer prior to your wedding so you can get an image of what you will be getting on your wedding day. Make your day easy for yourself and get a day-of coordinator. Yes most venues have a coordinator but this is not the same as actually getting a day of coordinator! Juila knew our wedding schedule better than I did. She set up everything and took everything down, made sure the right people were where they needed to be. She even did the rehearsal the night before at our venue.

We love this advice!
